Background

Isra was born in Casablanca, Morocco, but raised in London. His father was an engineer, his mother was a homemaker. He had a relatively normal upbringing, except he was originally a girl. Two years before he entered college, he came out. His mother was extremely upset. However, his father decided to do his best to accept Isra, and still supports him financially despite Isra's mother's protests. Isra has not undergone any sex change process due to money issues, since his father can barely support his college tuition. Which is why Isra got a part-time job.

The accident happened during the summer after his high school graduation. After a night with his friends, a drunk Isra sped home on his motorbike and was hit by a car. His right leg was amputated below the knee. He was able to recover quickly, but the prosthetic leg is a mark of shame for him. He is embarrassed when people stare at him, and he is constantly thinking that others are judging him, either for his freakiness or the fact that he was drunk. Which is why Isra hates alcohol now. The only time he can embrace his prosthetic leg is when he jogs. Initially, jogging felt strange, but he could run as well as he could before. He has two prosthetic legs, one for jogging and another so he can wear pants and still look okay. He can't maneuver as well with it, but he is willing to sacrifice speed and energy for outward appearance.
