Loretta was once a little sister, but she never made it to the surface with Jack. Instead, she decided to roam Rapture looking for her family, determined to find them alive and find out why they gave her up. Now that she knows they're dead, she's found her own family and made what passes for a decent life after managing to reach the surface and start new.

Loretta came from a poor, struggling family. She was the youngest and a surprise, something her parents had no problem reminding her of. At seven, they gave her up to the little sister orphanage, and Loretta spent several years as a sister before being saved by Tenenbaum and Jack.
Instead of following jack to the surface with the other sisters, Loretta stayed to search for her family. Unfortunately, her parents had both passed, and her brothers had both become splicers. It was Landon that burned her face, too far gone to recognise his sister, and Loretta was forced to kill him and Ryan.
While searching for her family, Loretta found a broken big daddy who she came to realise was her uncle Jo. She patched him up, and the two stuck together. Later, she found Lauren and Anna, Loretta decided to take them in. What started as pity soon became love, and Loretta quickly came to consider them her own kids.  Together, the four of them made it to the surface and started anew.
