History:
Freida and Dieter Schultz were not only passionate, inspirational lovers, but also two of Germany's more well respected scientists. Living in Berlin, they had access to many of Germany's resources, lived in a richly populated area, and they often participated in Germany's affairs relevant to politics and the state of Germany. They were aware that Germany had taken a critical blow in finances as the result of the finale of WWI, and promised to help the country back to its feet using their knowledge.

Frieda gave birth to a healthy baby boy on September 12, 1921, and the two named him Pike Emerson Schultz. He was to hopefully be their prodigal child, and they knew they wanted to put him in only the best schools available to have him learn science, taking after his parents.

During Pike's time as a child, there were some difficulties as there is in most lives; his parents were busy a majority of the time, leaving him to his own devices. Because of this, he knew from a very young age he was interested in men. His behavior and speech also encouraged the fact, which resulted in harsh bullying from his fellow schoolmates.
His parents did not resent him for this; in fact, they supported him completely and even considered moving him to a different school.

Before this could happen, Hitler came in power along with the ideals of the Nazi regime which Frieda and Dieter did not support. They had a bad feeling about the entirety of whatever the future may hold at this point, and instead of staying in Germany to participate, they moved to New York, USA in 1934.

Pike was 13.

Going to school here was not much different, this time around however he was bullied for being of German descent, being called a 'kraut’ among other things. Pike's parents told him to use the anger and pain inflicted as the will and want to push forwards to become strong and knowledgeable, knowing they couldn't truly do anything about the bullying occuring to him.

He also never made the mistake of letting it out that he was homosexual, either.

After completing his schooling with stunning grades (as his parents taught him,) Pike's parents decided he should attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the top schools for science studies in America. So he did. He took a deep interest in aerodynamics, astronomy and other various topics that related with planes, the sky/air, and space.

Upon his trips back and forth between New York and Massachusetts, he met a young man who worked hard on the railroads he used frequently. His name was Cash Carter, and the two hit it off fairly well.

Pike took a deep liking to this man, fell in love with him, and the two would speak together often as they saw each other which lead to a passionate affair for an intense few months. During these months, the two would conspire about what would be the fastest train set on tracks yet in the world. Pike had the knowledge, and Cash had the ability to create such a machine.
Before Pike could finish school, see the train in most of its stages, and before his and Cash’s romance could blossom, Pike was called off to participate in the war.

He was assigned as a pilot as he had prior knowledge in plane crafts, and served for all of a year and half before the American government grew weary and discharged his service based on his German heritage, and perhaps the fact he was homosexual caught wind.
This deeply stirred Pike and he couldn't shake the bitter, condemning feelings in him after all of these events. He tried to return to Cash, but the man showed no interest and insisted he was moving on with his life.

This broke Pike's heart. His true feelings had been squashed like a bug as they were no longer even reciprocated, so he took to his studies once again but this time with determination and a vengeance. He was a master of blueprints; mostly aircraft and vessel based, which drew in the attention of Andrew Ryan.

Pike was part of the group that developed the idea of the bathysphere, as well as its creation, and he was granted access to live in Rapture come it's earlier days of creation. He was also very welcome to bring along his parents, and did exactly that.

When Rapture was finished in 1951, he was 30 years old.

He also participated in helping create the guns that the Rosie Big Daddy uses to patch up Rapture, and other various mechanics around.

He can be found hanging out in The Fighting McDonagh tavern, often fist fighting in the ring (though never drinking). He seems to not be able to quite let go of Cash, even though the man is clearly not interested. There is some sort of emotional based turmoil here because of that.

[B]Personality:
Because of his childhood leaving a bitter imprint on him, he is exactly that. Bitter. Deeply bitter, rude, and will often wear a snobbish sneer to express his usual distaste.
It doesn't help that he has a resting bitch-face, either. He is a bit cocky and snobby, has a particularly difficult time getting along with women, also having  a pretty poor sense of humor just to top it all off.
If he laughs at you or something you say, you know he has a genuine appreciation of you. He is a generally angry and emotionally blocked person, though when you get to know him...he is...insanely emotional, has many passionate, painful deep feelings, and wishes to make the people he cares about impressed with his work. He deeply wants to find someone to love, though is insecure. Rapture seemed as good a place as any to find others like himself. He can be selfless in battle, and will do anything to protect the ones he loves. Despite his cold, angry self, he is loyal, passionate, and devoted to what he believes in as well as what he cares about.
Deeply...Extremely emotional, whether it's because he's angry and blocking emotions off, or because he's opened up, sobbing and eating chocolate to cheer himself up. Just don't get on his bad side; he's had military training and he's not afraid to show it.

TLDR; Bitter, spiteful bitch. Unless he knows you well, or enjoys your company…(it’s hard to find his good side), he will most likely dislike your presence and find it irritating. He’s a good man at heart, but results of bullying and other things turned him sour. He may or may not also be a bit naive. He’s obsessed with the way he looks (he has to look Spot On, Hot Shit at All Times) and despite having an aura that pleads for attention, he loathes it. He’d rather be a nobody to everyone- except for the people whose attention he craves…

• He has a very upturned nose, having earned him the nickname "schweine" when he still was in school in Germany.
