Spenser took a break after graduating high school and then got an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice before leaving school again. He's had depression that's gone untreated since high school, and after pulling himself out of an abusive relationship his mental health has only gotten worse. He's managed to fully cut off his ex but he still struggles with feelings of regret and guilt over it since he's loyal to a fault and even though he knows the other was abusive he feels he's betrayed himself by turning his back on someone he said he would stay with. He works nights to pay the rent for his small apartment and spends a lot of his free time drinking or reading nonfiction. Despite being very pessimistic and nihilistic he struggles with high empathy, which is part of why he avoids socializing because it only makes his mood swings worse when he's around others who are having strong feelings as well.

He has psychic powers that mainly manifest as foresight and limited telekinesis, but they came to a head when he was having a breakdown and he accidentally killed someone when his powers broke the glass window of a shop on the street he was on. He feels immensely guilty for this and it's why he was unmotivated to continue in school to get a Bachelor's like he had previously planned. Despite being able to see the future in flashes and getting prophecies at times, he doesn't really believe in the supernatural and thinks its a lot of scammers and idiots. He ignores the majority of his visions and prophecies because he just genuinely doesn't believe them and finds a way to write them off. As his telekinetic powers developed to be stronger though, he started to fight crime a bit on his way to and from work since he goes to and from work at odd hours of the day. He's heavily anti-vigilante though, and his 'fighting crime' consists of getting purses back for people or frightening off would-be assaulters, and he dislikes superheroes who work outside of the law or act like they're above the law or above reproach or judgement of the citizens.
