Personality: Studious, orderly, empathetic, patient (he went through over five different drafts of his first-ever novel before it had even touched the publisher’s office), and a mentor-figure to all who need it (though he currently works with Marmalade’s younger brother, Patchwork, on his anger management issues).

Fatal Flaws: Forgetful, depressed (he refuses to get an official diagnosis, however, because he feels it would only be yet another “burden“ to his friends and family), stands up for others more than himself, doesn’t take well to sarcasm/humor (i.e. uptight), and easily manipulated by foolishly putting his trust in the wrong ponies.

Special Talent: Writing/Publishing Stories

Cutie Mark Story: Bookworm wasn’t the most... talkative foal in school. He rarely spoke in class, isolated himself from others, and overall had no friends to lean on whatsoever. 

This was precisely why nopony suspected him to enter his story into the “Celestia’s Young Scholars” competition, a top-notch program designed to shed light onto some of Equestria’s finest literature majors. The day Bookworm recieved his letter of Congratulations from Celestia, none of his classmates could believe it. The shy young pony hardly said a word in class, yet wrote the most expressive and thought-provoking stories illustrating just how vibrant and creative he truly was.

The winner of the competition (along with a one-on-one meeting with the Princess herself) was immediately enrolled in one of the most exclusive literature-based schools in Equestria. Sadly, however, agreeing to these terms meant leaving his family (and newly-made friends) behind. Because of this, Bookworm confidently declined the invitation after realizing those close to him meant more than some prissy boarding school.

”I write to express myself, and I don’t intend on gaining anything from doing what I love,” He’d stated matter-of-factly. “The happiness I feel while creating these stories is worth more than any prize or Canterlot Acadamy could obtain.”

Upon arriving at the Castle to meet with Celestia, she applauded his decision to remain at home with his peers and encouraged him to keep doing what he loved most - Writing. This statement granted him his signature book-shaped Cutie Mark!

Even without a fancy scholarship or a high-class boarding school, the Princess still, to this day, remains pen pals with the young unicorn (he sends her his work, completed or not), which eventually resulted in him meeting his future significant other, Prince Loki.
