Bloom is a young Aurellian Chaos Child, AKA a floating jellyfish with an eyestalk who can shapeshift into a humanoid in order to better fit into society. While in jellyfish form, they have limited flying abilities (they can float up to 10ft above a solid surface), and they communicate via telepathy. While in their humanoid form, Bloom is neon pink and rather thin, and they have unusual hands and feet (3 fingers and a thumb on all four appendages), with an odd barcode on their left wrist, the code being "02CE". They also have a tail with an eye on the end of it that they can use to see so long as they close their face eyes -- they have a hard time focusing on two images at once. Bloom also has a large blackish "smudge" on their face that is hard and cool to the touch, and reflects images as if it was black glass. The smudge is internal while in their jellyfish form, but in their humanoid form it covers their right eye and nostril, causes their right ear to fold in on itself, and seals their lips half-shut (this renders them mute). The smudge appears to go bone-deep, and on top of having a large chunk of it covering roughly half of their face, smaller pieces are speckled around the main smudge; these don't inhibit facial movement, but they're not exactly comfortable to deal with.

As Aurellians tend to communicate more with senses and emotions than with words, names have little meaning to them, Bloom being no exception to this sentimentality. They were given the nickname "Bloom" by their party members, due to their pink skin and flower-like pattern on their jellyfish cap. Aurellians are also genderless entities, and as such Bloom is extremely unconcerned with presenting any certain way; they prefer staying in their pajamas 24/7 because they literally could not care any less about anything fashion-related aside from comfort. The only thing Bloom cares about is the brass ring on their right hand that houses a small holographic computer, which they use exclusively for gaming, practicing their hacking skills, asking sci-fi Google dumb questions, and using a text-to-speech app because they hate how intimate telepathy is. If they're without their computer ring, Bloom will avoid speaking as much as possible simply because they hate going inside other people's heads.

When Bloom woke up from an unplanned nap, they weren't expecting to be hovering above a hospital bed with 4 other people passed out in other beds beside them, and they certainly weren't expecting to be suddenly 3 years older than they were when they fell asleep. They also weren't expecting that when their hospital pal, Zenon, smashed a keyboard on the ground, Bloom would instinctively repair the object with magic. They didn't have magic when they fell asleep, did they? But the most unexpected thing was the giant chunk of black... stuff on their face. Or the fact that the "human" (definitely not a robot; he said he wasn't a robot so that means he's not one, even though his body is made of metal) who came to check up on the group was so nonchalant about the very large glass thing on their face that kept them from hearing or seeing or breathing or talking normally.

The other thing Bloom didn't expect was that they had their own seemingly well-loved room on the ship. Or that they had weapons. Or that this "human" expected them to fight others to protect this ship. Why does he expect a child to shoot people to defend a ship full of people they don't know? And why is this ship called a plague ship? The only thing Bloom knows for certain is that holy shit, one of their companions is a pop star. Holy fucking shit, they're standing next to the Zenon. They hope she thinks they're cool.
