Paper Sphinx

Paper Sphinx is a bitter, jaded sort of monster. Stricken from every home she's ever had, she eventually got imprisoned for nigh-eternity. Almost all of her hopes have been dashed, and she's thoroughly convinced things will never get better for her. She wants to be that playful kitten she once was, but her distrust of almost everyone hinders her severely. She puts on a brave face once she's around Handman, her sweet, but deep down she has uncertainty about how long that euphoria will last. For most, she's haughty and arrogant, requiring only the best, but for the rare few that get to know her, she's a fun beast that tells fantastic stories and gives great cuddles.

Paper Sphinx speaks freely of her past, though it's stretched on for so long that mortals have a hard time piecing everything together from her disjointed storytelling. She was created by an author mage many moons ago, a living puppet that obtained sentience as her love for her creator grew. She loved him even as he grew bored and created a brother for her. Eventually he tried to put an end to his little project, forcing her and her brother to fight to the death. She won and put a swift end to her creator. This was only one of several betrayals. Next was Handman. The two palled around for millenia as best friends and lovers. Though, once the Technocracy came to be, she was swiftly captured and imprisoned for crimes against humanity, where she remained for an unknowable amount of time.

• Paper Sphinx gets her power from the unused potential of her victims. She can theoretically live the rest of her life without eating.
• The Sphinx was actually a dog in creation. PS changed the Sphinx to a cat in jest once, and it stuck.
• Her favorite books are tragedies, her favorite being Romeo and Juliet.
