✦ Clarence Kelly

"I want to talk to them."

Name: Clarence Kelly (Blaise Phoenix was his old stage name)

Age: 44 (like 120 in Firbolg years)

Gender: Male

Appearance: Tall, thick, not overly muscular, average strength, a little out of shape. Short beard that he probably shaves occasionally so sometimes 5'o clock shadow, tries to dress his best while keeping in mind that he was a failed 80s popstar. Usually, he dons over the top outfits that are a mix between a youth pastor and Chris Jericho's light up leather jacket.

Occupation:Former pop-star, roughly 30 years ago.
Currently works as a
Recruiter for the Guild, banking on his former success to help bolster interest. Meanwhile he is trying to get his new career as a worship singer off the ground. He doesn't realize he's as washed up as he is.

Personality:

Clarence is a tender man who wears his heart on his sleeve, he asks questions first, second, third, fourth and shoots later, hoping to miss. He tries to be a moral compass for his friends, (and enemies, strangers, and demons) when he can, and will try to make friends with anything he can communicate good will towards. He feels like a failure most of the time, both from his failed pop singing career, and feeling deeply unworthy of the powers he was given as a cleric. Funny enough, without even trying, he hits most of his god's key tenants, probably the reason he was chosen to become a conduit to help people in his god's name in the first place.

Clarence is the most confident when he's pretending to be someone else, but that won't stop him from doing anything in his power to help other people turn their lives around and find a fresh start.

✦ Story

After losing his mother at a young age, Clarence began working at a restaurant, but dreamed of someday becoming a singer. He attended a few auditions, but it wasn't until a manager named Terry Horne realized the potential of a Firbolg as the face of his next musical “project”. While Clarence actually had some skill as a songwriter, his manager convinced him there would be riches and fame beyond his wildest imagination if he were to shape shift into a handsome young Elven man and lip synch to pop music composed and sung by other musicians.

Aided by his manager and producer, Terry, Clarence maintained his stage persona in any public appearances, interviews, photo shoots and of course, stage performances for several years.

In naivety or perhaps just blind optimism, he never thought what he and Terry were doing regarding his career was a problem. Then came the lawsuits. Their scheme discovered, Clarence and Terry fell hard. They lost everything, money, status, respect. Terry became a shell of the confident man he was when he was managing Clarence, and Clarence became reclusive and depressed.  His manager finally committed suicide, 6 months after the court cases settled, the nail in the coffin for Clarence's involvement in society.

With the only man who knew what he truly looked like dead, Clarence basically fucked off for 20 years to a small cottage in Northern Washington until he found a calling in Dian worship music, which he decided “Wasn't ultimately that hard to do” and “Could literally be sung by anyone with the worst voice and was as easy as writing love songs as long as you threw 'Dia' in there somewhere” What began as research into a way to break back into the industry became something deeply spiritual for him, though he felt he could not do justice to what he found in the Dian churches through his own (admittedly, sub-par) music.

Still, Clarence is a proud man, who doesn't particularly like to admit his failings.  He's convinced that as soon as he learns how to write actual music, gets voice lessons and figures out how to translate the heavy and poignant feeling that praying and worshiping gives him, it's over for you bitches.

✦ Relationships

Finch

Clarence respects that Finch lives by his own code, even if he doesn't agree with it at all. He doesn't necessarily trust Finch with others, but he does trust him with his life.

Callisto

The other peace-maker of the party, Clarence and Callisto often end up on the same said of arguments about what should be done and just how much violence is okay. He has feelings for Callisto, although he can't figure out how to say it more than a handmade necklace.

Ozzy

He finds in Ozzy a good friend, although they sometimes disagree. One of the first friends he made in the guild, he trusts Ozzy's judgment more than Finch's, but sometimes feels the big cat needs to relax a little bit.
