Matcha was born in a small oasis town near the Skywing border. As relations worsened, the town was raided by a group of rogue Skywing soldiers killing his parents. He was adopted by a group of Hoodwing traders, where his unusual colors were seen as an asset. He learned to be very charismatic and at times manipulative.

After growing up, he moved on from the traders and attempted to make his own way in life. The tragedy of loosing his parents still loomed on him but he was determined to make something of himself. While on his travels he rather awkwardly stubbled into another Hoodwing. She immediately caught him off guard, quite literally, she had ambushed him from the under the sand (he was surprised to say the least). At first, Match didn't know how to react by this strange dark Hoodwing who collided into his life but she ended up folloing him on his journey adn they both grew to enjoy eachothers company.
