hoji is a strange little critter. in fact, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what he is at all. born to members of the hoshigaki clan that hails itself from the hidden mist village, there's no denial of his blood lineage. as far as the clan goes with its members featuring shark - like features in a wide variation, it would appear that hoji is due to take the cake with his more blatant physical attributes. these, along with a generally fearsome display of physical prowess against classmates, leads to a youthful scouting from kirigakure's anbu corps. like most brought into their ranks from academy roots, it isn't until the age of thirteen that he's injected directly into the organisation itself. the sense of smell he possesses is wildly beyond anything a mere human is capable of achieving, sought by those who lead the operation's hunter - nin on this simple fact alone. jaws have a monstrous bite force with a lock strong enough to resist violent thrashing, a feline - like agility allowing hoji to easily clamber about quadrupedaly at heightened speeds, a tail that could easily propel him through waters if the need arose. with a thorough training regimen in a ploy to harness these tactics into something managable, child becomes nothing short of a pint - sized hunter by the ripe age of sixteen. while superiors may not have allowed for the boy to run missions on his own until later years in life for reasons that have since left his mind, that never halted his progress. it's a solid streak of missing - nin who've abandoned the hidden village over the years who're taken down during his first few weeks rushing free. notwithstanding the others of shared familial lineage who’ve abandoned the mist prior, this is never a fear that’s crossed the minds of those within the anbu who issue his orders. hoji is nothing if not disgustingly loyal to his efforts, hardly seeks to let down those around him.

these days, it's hoji himself who is directing those around him on a variety of hunts for the anbu. such tasks have evidently become second nature, and never too soon. considering the near overwhelming level of missing - nin those from the village have to deal with each passing year, there's never a lack of options for he and his fellow hunters. hoji has even garnered the habit of sending himself after the more pesky variations, beliving firmly through the haze of his amounting pride that he can take on just about anyone. if they wished to take the mist's jutsu with them, they'd have to get through hoji.
