Mio 🐶

Mio Chihaya is a small-town, simple Bagbean from Beania. She travels alongside Kohaku in order to seek the "truth".

Mio is mostly characterized by her almost eternal state of worry — she hardly ever lets her mind rest as she is constantly micro-managing and assessing potential risks. Even something as simple as a brief conversation is a meticulously thought-out effort for Mio as to avoid any possible conflict to the extent of slight vocal inflections and barely noticeable body language. Her awkward and sensitive front regarding socialization comes from a deep desire to be seen as "normal" — that is, to not stand out or be noticed for the wrong reasons. She prefers to "blend in" and ideally, be left alone. Ironically, despite her attempts to conform, Mio often finds herself in the company of Griffolk who draw attention like a magnet, leaving her to either panic and frantically try to de-escalate the situation or begrudgingly play along.

Outside of her nervous and perfectionist composure, Mio is a genuinely kind individual. While she isn't the type to express it outwardly, she cares a lot about others — even complete strangers at times — and will put aside her best interests to help them, albeit with a decent amount of fussing and reluctance.

As a mathematician, Mio is familiar and fluent with almost everything and anything regarding the subject. She formerly worked as a math instructor for the Grifflings of her hometown, being recognized and well-respected for her expertise. While it isn't an ability that's undoubtedly useful for what she comes across in her current day-to-day life, Mio's ability to do calculations on the fly has certainly come in handy more than a few times.
