Hayes Tack

Down in the land of Oz was a scarecrow that protected his fields.
He had no brain, no mind.
And no idea what it meant to be alive.

Hayes wasn't sure how or when he became conscious, but he didn't care. All he cared about was his crop field. He loved it, he loved protecting it from the pesky crows and the rowdy teens.
But then, one day, it was all taken from him. All with a spark.
Fire. Everywhere. It swallowed the crops, it ate away at the entire land! Nothing Hayes did could stop it, it almost ate him alive! And so, helplessly, he watched his field burn to ash. A scarecrow with no field, what could he do?
Now, with this new life he was for some reason granted, he decided to dedicate it to searching for another farm he could help protect and keep safe.

Notes: Like I've said countless times, I love the concept of twists on fairy tales. I once made an RP long, long ago about the Wizard of Oz, and the one that's stuck with me throughout these years was the scarecrow that lost its mind. I couldn't necessarily just say he's a madman right now, I had to give him a story! And funnily enough, it was as I was getting his design done that I thought up the idea of him searching for that perfect field!
Interestingly enough, the moment I started writing as him here the more I got a different kind of voice for him? He's not a killer, just an inanimate object trying to understand life and purpose now! I think instead of a twisted version of Wizard of Oz, he ended up gaining more influence from a Halloween prop I use to scare people lol

Personality: Hayes is not very used to being alive and he doesn't have any desire to learn etiquette. Despite this, he gets easily distracted with bright lights and lots of movement. He can't speak very well and often expresses himself with noises and grunts, sometimes also making grand gestures reminiscent of his scarecrow days.
All in all, it's like watching something not human pretend to be human without knowing how anything works.

Non-Human Abilities:
- Hay - Not having any internal organs, Hayes can't die. He doesn't even register pain. If his body is ripped apart, the limbs can move independently to get back to him. He can also repair himself by stuffing himself with more hay.

Drawing Details: Hayes has a knapsack for a head with giant buttons for his eyes and stitches on his mouth (though he's capable of opening and closing it). He wears a red shirt with overalls, and has a brown hat.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- The video for his voice actually is very close to how he actually talks. Not drunk, but definitely broken and slurred.

- Hayes believes that people need hay in order to feel better about any wounds they need. It's possibly why he's made so many scarecrows.

- He's not necessarily a vicious killer, as he'll be around humans without harming them.

- Very scared of fire.

- Very annoyed by crows.

- There's a high chance a lightning strike is the cause for his field catching on fire.
