Bluff is a gentle, skittish creature who prefers to live deep within the forest on the side of a large mountain. He is fairly intelligent and extremely passionate about all living things. He wishes more than anything to befriend every little animal he encounters, though finds more often than not the animals don't feel the same way! Often, they are very vocal about how much they dislike him!
Bluff wishes his claws weren't so big and that he didn't have such menacing teeth and horns. In reality, he's an omnivore who eats only the berries, mushrooms, and herbs he can scavenge within the forest! He wouldn't dream of harming another animal. Speaking of animals- snails, isopods, and butterflies are some of his favorites, as they don't get scared of his appearance and are fine with being held! Though he does constantly worry about accidentally crushing one, as he's very strong, and it's hard to control sometimes!
Bug Friend • Bluff, strangely enough, is not feared by any insect. They will happily crawl across his hand and take any sort of food offering he might provide. He is frequently followed by a few butterflies. At nighttime, fireflies congregate around him.
Masterful Forage • Due to a life spent in the wilderness, Bluff has become extremely proficient at foraging miscellaneous berries, herbs, plants, and mushrooms. He is very knowledgeable about what is and isn't good to eat, and can find a huge amount of food in a single evening. He's also got excellent recall when it comes to the best spots in his forest to find food!
Clumsy Burrow • Bluff is still learning how to control his strength. His claws are very bulky, and perfect for uprooting the soil. He can dig six feet beneath the surface in a matter of minutes, but isn't exactly great about controlling the mess, or building a burrow that is structurally sound. He can perfect this skill with more practice!
Bluff was born in the deep heart of winter, underneath the glow of the sun. His heart is warm like a fireplace and radiates heat throughout his body, giving him a slight warm glow from his belly. There is steam constantly drifting from his nose , reminiscent of a home in the winter morning sun. After the first snowfall of the year his coat lightens dramatically.* His first steps spent in the cold frost ensured a lifetime love for winter. He is a fairly intelligent creature and currently aims to learn even more about his forest and all that lies within. A few weeks ago, Bluff spotted a strange creature he'd never seen before. After talking with his neighbor- an old bluejay- he learned that this odd thing was a 'human', and that seeing one meant the whole forest could be in great danger. However, after watching the human from afar, Bluff realized that they were extremely creative, smart individuals. He wishes more than anything that those were traits he could have! Because of this envy, Bluff wants to learn more about 'humans'!
Early Life
Bluff does not know where his parents went, or what their names even are. He vaguely remembers the face of his mother from his time as a youngling but cannot recall anything other than that. He has been alone for the majority of his life and has had to learn all he knows about the natural world through trial and error, and through talking with the animals who are brave or wise enough not to be scared of his appearance!
Up until recently, his goal was to find his parents. Ever since seeing a human, however, he seems to be too interested in their civilization to remember his original goal!
