Kinda estranged kid living with his single mom in NYC. Rather lonely but isolates himself more because of it.

Hard of hearing or deaf, I never sorted out which. Not a big part of the Deaf community and, as his hearing is gradually going, is only just starting to learn ASL. Is very, very good at lipreading, thankfully, and when he uses voice he is easily intelligible.

RJ is chosen as the heir of the land deity. He recieves shapeshifting abilities - while this defaults to a catlike form, he is able to alter it as he sees fit to imitate other animal or elements of them.
