Daxton Jaeger

Personality:

Essentially a giant nerd wrapped up in a kid trying to be badass and cool. He acts tough and competent in everything he does, whether or not he actually is. This can lead to some disastrous results, especially when he refuses to admit his mistakes or that he needs help. He has a very big personality, as well: loud and boisterous, he's at ease talking with others, and although he doesn't have very much respect for his elders, he doesn't mean any harm, and admires them in secret. Deep down, he's really a good kid, and does his best to make sure he's well-liked.

Strengths / Weaknesses:

• Dax's determination is next level. Once he's set his mind on something, it's almost impossible to stop him from doing it.
• When Dax actually bothers to pay attention, he absorbs information very quickly and can execute it surprisingly well. 
• Dax is also rather good at talking people down from a situation: he had plenty of experience stopping fights among his siblings, notoriously Arnold and Winston.
• He's also fairly skilled at street fighting, and under Winona's training continues to improve.
• Infamous for making rash decisions, he often agrees to things without fully understanding the details or ignoring the consequences in favor of the "rule of cool."
• Give Daxton a gun and the side of a barn to shoot and it's guaranteed he'll miss it. Any projectile weapon / firearm in his hands is a very bad idea unless there's seekers attached to the bullets, and even then that's questionable.
• Puts way too much trust into the people he cares about. Instantly assumes that those he loves will have his back, without them having earned that trust.

Likes / Dislikes:

• For some reason, he has a fixation on lasers, and thinks they're the coolest thing since sliced bread.
• Sharks are his favorite animal of all time. They're like, the biggest badasses of the ocean, duh. Plus they have cool teeth. Combine these with the aforementioned lasers and Dax will lose his goddamn mind.
• Unironically loves the Power Rangers. Probably also Naruto at one point. He probably thought running like Naruto made him actually go faster.
• Despite her strict teachings, he really admirers his mentor Winona. She's basically the coolest and most famous person he knows.
• Any dairy is considered a love/hate thing with Dax, mostly due to him being lactose intolerant. This doesn't always stop him from eating it, of course, he just... hates cheese for not agreeing with him. And ice cream. Especially ice cream. Why does it have to taste so good?
• Dax doesn't like to admit it, but the curse in Shatterglass actually scares him shitless. He's terrified staying in the city for more than a few hours, despite logically knowing that the 'curse' isn't contagious and nothing will happen to him if he stays there.
• Similarly, anyone who doesn't look human or is considered a Shatterian makes him extremely nervous, though he tries his best to hide this.
• Contained flames like campfires or matches only make him a little nervous, but throw him into an inferno and the kid is guaranteed to freak out.
  
  

Backstory:

.: Had a slightly rough home life- parents both had to work to support the kids, leaving Dax and Arnold in charge of watching the others.
.: Although Arnold was technically the oldest, he was notorious for fighting with Winston, which meant Dax often had to play peacekeeper.
.: His parents pushed them all to succeed so they wouldn't end up in the same predicament they did, but between half watching the kids and his terrible grades in school, Dax quickly got frustrated and his parents got very stern with him.
.: They attempted to pressure him to do better, doing everything they could think of, but all it did was make Dax want to drop out.
.: He almost did... until he found STaR. Luckily for him, Winona Ness was a recruitment officer that day. She admired his determination and thought, if his skills were improve upon, he has the potential to make it as a STaR officer. She offered him to train him as long as he promised he'd graduate high school.
.: Dax now basically follows Winona around whenever he can, trying to learn the tricks of the trade.
