Tinsel’s best winter memory is her first winter. She spent it having fun with family and friends, and she learned many new ways to enjoy the cold weather. Sledding down the steep, snow-covered hills under a cloud-streaked sky, followed by making peppermint bark in the warm kitchen, and sipping delicious hot cocoa with extra marshmallows and whipped cream. Creamy chocolate enjoyed with joyful cards, sitting next to a crackling fire as her cousins wrestled and sang parodies to holiday songs. These were the memories that Tinsel loved from that year. The next year was not so great. Her winter season was started off with her falling down stairs, injuring her paws and keeping her off her feet for a week. Tinsel’s crutch-walking abilities were awful, and she sustained more injuries during that time. Then, she got on a fight with her best friend, and it ended with her being dumped headfirst into a snow pile. From that, she got frostbite and was again confined to the house, where she tried to bake. Everything she made came out burned, undercooked, or very misshapen. By the end of the winter, she had begun to hate the season and her family’s kitchen. Since then, though, she’s learned the oven was broken, and has outgrown her clumsiness, so now she can enjoy the season of freshly fallen snow and warm treats and joyful family reunions without injury.

Oh, great is the joy of the small child as the first lacy flakes fall. Graceful and elegant, they cover the bare earth, blanketing it in soft powder. Spiraling, dancing on the wind, they land on tongues and eyelashes to the delight of the youngsters. These icy crystals usher in a season of warm food, toasty fires, amazing stories, and ancient traditions. This particular child, though, was looking forward to only one thing. Peppermint. It was her markings, and her life obsession. Tinsel couldn’t WAIT for her peppermint.

Yep that’s all her development
