*My favorite interpretations of the Devil are the ones where he and God are not enemies, but allies.
The Devil is appointed by God to punish those who lead sinful lives.
The Devil does not cause evil or tempt, but just punishes those who act poorly under their own free will.*

Vera is the product of a collaboration between God and the Devil.
Though Vera directly works for the Devil, it is blessed by holy symbolism in order to do its work.

Vera is one of the demonic entities in charge of bringing rogue demons back to hell.
Demons who escape hell find hosts and possess them so that they may walk the earth among humans.
Vera's job is to find them, expel them from their host, and banish them back to hell.
Their face bears three red crosses which protects it from possession and grow hot when Vera is nearing a possessed being.
It carries a large blessed cross to aid in protection and expel demons from their human hosts.
When the demons are dragged out, the staff transforms into a blessed sword that has the power to transport unholy beings back to hell.
When penetrated by this sword, the targeted demon evaporates into a cloud of black smoke.
To prevent hysteria among humans, Vera is invisible to all mortals and, when it has done its work, the human victim awakes with no
memory of their possession or time possessed.

Vera is not a worker-bee.
It is intelligent, unlike many of the demons created to punish sinners.
The demons who escape are often the ones created as aggressive, blood thirsty tormentors.
Vera is self-aware, crafty and has a personality all its own.
It is efficient in its work and is regarded as one of the best at what it does.
