damien

damien came from a very big and loud family!! while this sounds like a great thing, damien was often overlooked and wasn’t shown the amount of affection by his parents that many other kids got. to try and get the attention of his parents, he would often break the rules by dying his hair, breaking shit, y’know angsty teen things… he was often labeled the problem child in his family. this is where damien met vincent! finally, he gets the affection and attention he’s been deprived of. they only meet up in the late hours of the night, and damien only told one of his trusted siblings about it. unfortunately, this sibling tells the family about this and outs damien. the family then disowns and kicks damien out, leaving him out on the streets. 

damien lives with vincent and his adoptive mom afterwards. this part is the only tiny, miniscule and perfect moment in vincent and damien’s relationship. they don’t worry about anything except each other. 

this little perfect part of their relationship would shatter after vincent’s adoptive mother is killed. as much as damien tries to reach out and help vin, vincent just grows more distant and cold. along with this, vincent seems to be out far more than he is back at home. mysteriously, money flows in that allows them to keep vincent’s adoptive mom’s apartment. wonder where that came from lol????

soon after, their relationship appears to be looking up again :D damien still doesn’t know where all this money is coming from, but he doesn’t ask. even with their relationship looking up, there comes the crash. this crash happens on the day damien was deciding to propose to vincent. vincent has gone inside a bank to get some money when an explosion destroys and kills everyone in the bank. damien quickly runs inside, finding vincent’s body, burnt and badly injured, face down on the floor. there’s so much fucking blood and damien is pretty sure one of vincent’s legs is fucking gone. damien sobs over his body until he’s dragged away by firefighters.

with vincent presumed dead, damien makes it his mission to kill whichever bastards killed his boyfriend. changing his look entirely and befriending keon, damien is loaded with weapons and knowledge. he goes on to kill dozens of criminals associated with the explosion at the bank. damien himself becomes a criminal, dubbed ‘deadbolt’ by the public. 

damien is still not familiar with any other combat besides cocking and loading a gun at this point. this turns out terribly, as at one point he can’t do anything when he’s ganged up on without his weapon. thankfully for him, luke happened to be walking along the way while it was going to practice his boxing. beating up the assaulters, luke comments on damien’s lack of skill. damien then follows luke like a lost puppy on the way to the place where luke practices. every day, damien tries to befriend it and gets rejected. one day, it works and luke basically takes damien in.

damien still lives in that apartment that he and vincent shared. he’s left most of vincent’s possessions untouched out of pain. the other side of the bed has never felt so empty. luke typically crashes, but he sleeps on the couch.

while damien is about to kill yet another person, he hears a voice he hasn’t heard in years. whipping his head around, he can’t believe his fucking eyes. vincent stands there, gun held up to damien and stating that he’s going to arrest him. vincent looks the same yet so different. there’s a big hunk of plastic over his face and scars underneath. damien can see a bit of metal shine underneath vincent’s pants. what the fuck? 

vincent, seemingly not knowing deadbolt was damien until this moment, lowers his gun, letting damien escape. all that runs through damien’s head is that vincent is alive. vincent is alive and said nothing. vincent is alive and is working for the delegation. vincent is alive and hasn’t tried to get in contact with damien or come back to the apartment. did he not care how fucked up damien became after he thought vincent fucking died? at the same time, damien is filled with relief that vincent is alive and sort of well.

now that it appears that no one killed vincent, damien settles down on all the killing. instead, he does more ‘petty’ crimes, like graffiti, fighting, and stealing and stuff of that sort. he’s still being chased by the delegation, of course. generally really friendly, but he has a hard time trusting people in fear that they will betray him and leave him to rot, as his family and vincent have.
