Even though Zan has soldier’s background he is usually easy-going and relaxed. Even in the most hectic situations he seems calm and collected. It takes quite a lot to make him angry or raise his voice, but he has never been too shy to question stupid orders or state his disagreement. In the other hand he is as generous with his compliments and praises. He wears his heart on his sleeve; laughs easily and sulks as easily, though not very loudly.
He doesn’t let people to walk over him, but he’s quick to trust and easily follows the ones he trusts. His quiet confidence makes it easy to meet and befriend people, and quite often he is the shoulder to cry on. Maybe that’s why he rarely shares his private life or thoughts, especially not in the work environment, but also not very easily on the everyday life.
However, he can be very gullible when it comes to something he has no experience on. Zan is easily amazed and will ask tons of questions. He will also get very embarrassed if he finds out he’d been fooled.

Born and raised in the Viraciel's largest city, Zan grew up wanting to help and see as many animals as he could. He was sure he'd be a vetenarian, but it changed when he realized he actually wanted to help the people, too, not just animals. And that he really wanted to see the space and strange planets. So he worked hard to be able to study and work abroad as much as he could.
When the civil war broke out between the current intergalactic government and the people Who Did Not Agree, fondly labeled as rebels, Zan 'retired' from his work as a government doctor. He didn't want any part of that fight since he felt like it was unnecessary and brought more problems than solutions. Not that he liked the idea of the corrupted government or leeching on the little people, but he wasn't reassured that the rebels were any better choice. He spent his days more and less hiding in the outskirts of the known space, in the cities that weren't under intergalactic jurisdiction, practicing medicine. Small, quiet country doctor life would work for awhile but Zan knew he'd eventually move on. He wasn't really in a quiet, quaint little coutry town, but in the lawless, criminal ridden city at the edge of the known universe. It still felt quieter somehow.
He came back from his early retirement when the dust settled and joined the new research group. It felt genuinely like fresh start at least for him and he's curious to see what is to come. And now he'd finally be able to aim for his dream to see new planets and new people.
