Amhai

Race: Hamadryad (japanese maple)

Age: Teens

Occupation: tree

Class: Druid

Amhai enjoyed many years of flitting around with their siblings before making the decision to leave their tree and explore. They’d first developed an interest in the outside world through their many contacts with the Keepers of the White Wood, a multiracial community of people who lived away from society and devoted themselves to Silvanus, and the protection and care of the forest, which did contain primarily white-barked trees. They were surprised to see Amhai’s tree, which stood stark with bright reds and greens against the soft hues of the forest. When Amhai appeared, they approached each other with caution. Eventually, curiosity won out and they became friends. The Keepers swore they meant no insult in excluding Amhlaidhe's tree from their name once they learned of it, and decided their full name would be the Keepers of the White Wood and Protectors and Friends of Amhai. This pleased the sapling greatly. It was around the time Amhai met the keepers that they began to pull away from their siblings and grow into a greater understanding of the world.

After staying with the Keepers for a while, Amhai learned that they had once lived among a vast multitude of others like themselves, until they were called to protect the forest from the voracious need of farmers for land, or builders for wood. Some had once been farmers or builders themselves who called to Silvanus after seeing the destruction their efforts wrought to the dwindling forests. Others were called since their youth, or had always been protectors of the forest. The group's found one another and took to protecting Amhai untouched forest from encroaching civilization, helping it expand outwards and stay healthy. Many hamadryads and other races had greeted them with passing or passive interest, but Amhai was the first to seek out their company and directly engage them.
