Mellifera began existence as a simple apple tree, growing proudly in the middle of a wild forest. Her trunk was thick and healthy, and her branches reached upwards into the very sky itself. The sweet fruit she produced fed creatures large and small, and the natural cycling of her leaves fed the very Earth itself. Mellifera's favorite friends were the swarm of bees that made their hive at home within her branches. Her life was long and fulfilling, but of course, everything has its eventual end.

After a particularly rainy fall, the mountainside Mellifera called her home fell victim to a landslide. She and the others of the grove around her were uprooted, toppled, snapped, and broken; finally they came to rest at the foot of the mountain, a mess of rocks and upturned earth and dislodged foliage and trees. Mellifera, once standing proud and beautiful, lay beneath the rubble away from sunlight's grasp, trunk twisted and limbs broken. Her hive was shattered and lost - what would the bees do once they returned in the spring, only to find their ancestral home decimated?

Life faded from the apple tree.. and was reborn as something new.

Mellifera rose from the wreckage of her former home as wavering and uncertain as a babe. The Transformation that breathed her very essence into a brand new being was tumultuous, leaving Mellifera utterly confused, terrified. She wandered the borders of her boundary, discovering the pros and cons of her new body. At first, she rejected it; deep down it felt as though things were simply wrong. What purpose did she serve, now? Why had she been chosen to be reborn? Unanswered questions plagued the esk day and night for at least a decade. Coming to terms with her new existence was difficult, but over time the confusion gave way to a calm acceptance. She found her purpose aiding those within her boundary.

This was her second Transformation, what she considers the beginning of her new life, her true birth. Mellifera realized her purpose and became whole, living her day to day life as a beacon of light and hope for those around her.
