Profile

Despite his singular halo, Cradlesong is actually quite old by Guardian standards and comes from a blessedly long lineage of Guardians that have kept the records of time in their world.  For many ages, the Guardians in his family line have maintained the giant library of scrolls and books detailing the births, achievements, and deaths of their kind - each handing down the duty to the next before their passing back through the Cat's Cradle.  Since Cradle's ancestors have always been able to conceive at the gate regardless of their halos, each new offspring is generally accepted among the population as the gate designated record keeper, ensuring a seamless transition of archive maintenance.  Within Cradle's lifetime, he has also begun to keep records of the strange new fluctuations at the Cat's Cradle, wondering if there is some sort clue to the relatively recent malfunctions.

Cradle is usually quite amicable and friendly, with a bright spirit and terribly childlike sense of humor.  He gets on well with most Guardians, even though he rarely gets out of the archives to interact with them or other species.  While he may seem airheaded in initial interactions, he is actually diligent in his work as the record keeper, flawlessly noting the happenings of society day-to-day.  When he is shut in for his work, he is uncharacteristically withdrawn and easily irritated if disturbed.

While the majority of Guardians hold great contempt and disgust for the Corrupt, Cradle is fascinated by them.  Both out of pity and selfish interest, he lets Dove reside within the archives - living as a small family unit like this allows him to study Dove's characteristics as well as have an extra set of hands around to help with maintenance, though Dove must never under any circumstances write in the books.  Many of his kind consider Cradle's interest in Dove and the Corrupt as purely academic and strangely charitable, but Cradle is actually quite fond of his outcast boarder and very protective.

Habitually single, Cradlesong has yet to express any sort of romantic interest in another, even though his family tradition ultimately demands an heir at some point.  Solom continually, and fruitlessly, seeks to arouse Cradle's interest but has yet to succeed in his endeavors.
