He is the sole survivor of his kind. He was born and raised as a bookkeeper, who was charged with keeping every speck of knowledge his tribe had. For a while, his life was great! He even had a girlfriend, who was the leader's daughter! Than.. they  came. They killed everyone. His parents, his siblings, his beloved girfriend.. The murderers had him cornered, than he picked up a book that his mentor had told him NEVER to touch. His entire body turned into shadow, and he killed every one of the cruel murderers who had destroyed his life. He now stays in the remains of his home, preserving knowledge until, perhaps someday, he can find someone else of his kind. He holds out for this tiny hope. In the meantime, he messes with explorers by using his abilities in possession and appearance taking. His intellect also allows him to be a living bank of information.
