The fluttering of miniscule wings cannot be heard, however, the human woman's attention is still pulled in her direction. Even though she struggles, she still manages to lift the hammer by the back end. She almost picks it up off the workbench, but just as it leaves the wooden table, she looses her grip. The hammer drops to the floor with a loud clatter, split the wooden floorboards. "Oops," her little voice says.

As a Protector Sprite, it is Evermell Prim's sworn duty to protect the house built just outside of her forest home. She was born on the day it was completed, and for nearly eighty years, she watched over the house and the couple that lived in it. Now, as the old woman has passed away, the house has gone up for sale. In fear of what the new owner may do to the house, Evermell makes herself known and tries to interfere. But, she soon finds a new friend in the human Tanya Woods.
