Nala Jones

Nala Jones Boschman was born in November 4, 1954 in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua. She later moved to Seminole, Texas in her teens with her family in search for a better life and opportunities. Nala comes from a Mexican Mennonite family and is the third daughter of six, she speaks Spanish, English and broken Plautdietsch. Living in a strict, traditional and hard working family, Nala still had the chance of choosing a life of her own, deciding to move to Houston for studying a childhood education degree during her early adult years. Having a life of her own and being by herself for the first time in her life made Nala reflect in unseen aspects of herself. One of these aspects being her sexuality, when she discovered she was a lesbian. Being afraid of her family not supporting her, she joined support groups, meeting new people and started reading gay literature.
