Intro

Roan Eetilbar is a false-noblemen who achieved his status by venturing north into the elven country of Sibell. There, he gained wealth and fame by killing several notable ‘beasts’ and became reknown as prodigy swordsman throughout Sibel. Once word of his skill reached his home country of Cravell, he returned home and began privately training nobles. At 22, Heirest Atriarch hired him as private instructor… As part of their agreement, Noel also promoted Roan’s status to a Nobleman of the Highest Court, and allowed him free passage and residence within any Royal Structure. Roan, of course, has selected to live in the Central Palace. Now 24, he lives his days in luxury and comfort, and seems to only care about maintaining his extravagant and mysterious image.

Despite following orders to a T, he’s pretty laid back and sociable. He leaves a lasting impact on whoever he meets, and not just for his looks. He is pretty good with remembering a face, just not the name attached. Most folks don’t mind though. He’s fun to be around, and pretty light hearted. He prefers to stay in his room if he’s not feeling his A-game. It would be easy to assume that his ego manifests in a classist demeanor, but he knows his roots. He wouldn’t admit it, but the company of the working class is much more comfortable. There isn’t much chance to talk with them in depth usually. The shift from growing up on a rural farm to his current luxurious position still sits a little oddly with him… He’s not one to judge by status or upbringing, excluding his own. If the conversation turns to own history, expect him to quickly--but politely-- excuse himself. Needless to say, it’s not a topic he cares to share. In private, he’s much calmer than he is walking around the castle halls. When not thinking about the people he’s around, he usually distracts himself with some sort of organizing or lesson planning. But when the day is done and the room is immaculate, and he has a detailed itinerary of every drill for the next six months… he’s a quiet man. There’s a loneliness that comes with popularity. Knowing that you’re an other in a building meant to house a loving family can keep you up at night.

His dad left him with Hella at age 2. It’s never bothered him much. He came to visit often during the first year, but eventually stopped returning. He doesn't remember him, doesn’t miss him. Hella’s farm was pretty isolated, but he would walk the mile into town once he was old enough. There weren't many kids there-- none to be exact. It was composed mostly of older folks whose children have long since left the nest. He joined their numbers at 16, and moved to the large city of Grayce to study under Jour, a well known swords-woman. It’s one of the southernmost cities, and it’s where he picked up Elvish enough to move deeper in the country. After a year, he learned about the city of Mithon, where a practitioner of the sword style Raepteur resided… though it did not help that Mithon is quite renown for its medical prowess. It was while living here he was able to “physical transition” in the conventional understanding, though he has been presenting as male since age 12 or so. He studied under Michelle for roughly 2 years before heading out once again, this time with no real destination… He always enjoyed the countryside much more than the towns, beautiful as they are. It was during these travels he had an uncomfortably close encounter with an Elvish Bear. Word spread to the local town, then the next, then the next. It wasn’t long before he was on a Bear-Killing spree, as town after town posted fine rewards. Eventually he moved onto tricker beasts, bigger threats, longer hikes. It was fun, especially during his teenage years. But once he hit 20 or so, the increasing price tag of tutor requests became… quite the offer indeed. He was happy to keep up appearances by becoming a very public figure. He did this sort of teaching in Sibell for about two years, until finally at 22 he received quite the offer from Prince Heirest Noel, of the Atriach Family. He was eager to accept, to say the least.r

Sword Fighting
He's always been intersted adventuring, so to speak: once he hit 10 he would venture out into the woods and see what he could find, or what could find him. After a couple run ins with the local boar population, Hella enrolled him with a local swordsman. He took to it, and it quickly became apparent that he was a prodigy. He quickly outgrew his tutor, eventually travelling north into Sibell to study under a number of different styles.

Teaching
Teaching was never something Roan really sought out, but it was a good opportunity to meet some powerful people while still being able to support himself. There was certainly a learning curve to it; he tended to overestimate others abilities and aptitude. After a year or so he had worked out a system of lesson planning and exercises that seemed to work quite well. It’s become a sort of pastime for him.

Dancing
He learned to dance one night at a drunkard's march, and has stuck to it ever since. It's a fun, physically engaging thing, and is comperable to swordplay when it comes to working with a partner. It's come useful as he's gained prestige and attened more formal dances. His foreign dancing style stirs up a fair amount of attention, which always nice.

Bastard Sword [ semi-common ]
Big pretty swords with gemstones and carvings and ornate guards are fun, but Roan knows better than to even think of actually using something like that. He owns ten or so swords, but is partial to a particular bastard sword. Made with damascus steel with subtle copper detailing and an unusual trillion-cut larimar stone, it’s just the right weight to be more of an extension of himself than an accessory.

Noel's Rings [ very, very, very rare ]
Christ. Noel isn’t the worst person to teach when it comes to preparedness, but he always seems to forget to wear anything that could pass for proper attire. Inflexible shirts, stiff boots, hanging jewelry, rings too big to fit under a guard. It’s been helpful for teaching him how to work in adverse circumstances-- god forbid he might need to-- but it has also resulted in Roan accumulating a small pile of rings from where Noel forgot to take them back after class. It wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t usually highly prized royal heirlooms that hold a sort of historic terror.

Contact Notebook [ common, one of a kind ]
Roan knows a lot of people, who live in a lot of different places, and work a lot of different jobs for a lot of different people. This is his way of trying to keep things straight. Contact books are fairly common practice, especially in Mori Dell where multigenerational families often live in the same area doing the same thing. It’s a bit unusual to be offered a page to write in, but something about it is rather flattering.
