She/her - Butterfly of Death - Biromantic Ace

Solaris used to be what many call as a reaper; she would take departing souls with her to later have them be judged for whatever sins they committed later on. She didn’t mind the job and she felt like she did what she had to do; she was one of Death’s daughters that assisted their father in carrying souls to the underworld. She did her job well as a reaper, and she made just decisions on where they will go afterwards. She never paid any mind to it, until a incident involving a Kalon who decided to try and cheat death by trying to kill her in the process. It succeeded, however Solaris didn’t die. As with many reapers she was considered immortal, but by the time her father was finally able to get to her, most of her body was destroyed beyond repair and her disembodied consciousness was in agony from the pain. In desperation to save his daughter, he transplanted her consciousness into that of a butterfly’s. Afterwards, he hunted down the soul that tried to kill her and made sure they would suffer dearly for it. To this day, the reaping process was made much more strict and so that his daughters could not be hurt again.

Because her father Death himself couldn’t turn her back as it wasn’t his domain normally, she found herself unable to talk and she flew around unable to fulfill her abilities in this form, and instead alerting her sisters to someone dying from her presence. This earned her the title of souls that saw her of the butterfly of death. However, even this would lead to a disastrous end. Away from the watchful eye of her sisters, she was captured by a butterfly collector who was enticed by her colors. When her sisters finally noticed she was missing, they couldn’t find her.

She spent a couple of months in a jar, unable to break free when a stranger noticed her struggle and asked the collector to give the jar to him. After many hours of bargaining from the stranger the collector eventually settled for several thousand coins. The stranger then teleported into a different realm where his castle was, and freed her and simply walked back instead. However, Solaris would stick around, slowly becoming attached to the stranger. Through time around the castle she gradually regained her lost strength and with enough energy regained in a while, she wished to be a Kalon again. She didn’t have to be immortal again, she just needed her own self back. Though the last of her power that remained and her own immortality at this point, she used it all to become a Kalon again.

She found her rescuer in which he was surprised as she explained herself. He then properly introduced himself as Cenere, an immortal lord who had been living alone for centuries now. Together, they bonded and it eventually blossomed into a romance.

In the present, Solaris helps Cenere with the heavy lifting of the castle (as he is quite frail) and comforts him when needed. She’s not sure if she’s still immortal but to her it doesn’t really matter anymore as she is happier than she was previously. Occasionally, her sisters visit and tease her about Cenere, but she doesn’t really mind either way. She tries to garden, but the small sliver of her powers manages to kill every single plant she touches. While she doesn’t trust others besides her husband, sisters and her father she’s slowly opening up more to others. It’s a slow process and quite scary after what happened, but the future seems bright in her eyes.
