Earl and his twin brother Locke are the only sons of Florence, they are only three years older than Arnie so they're both pretty close to him as well as their cousin Manny.
The twins as teenagers were polar opposites, Earl being the calm and collected of the two.

Earl knew early on he wanted to be a doctor, but after seeing what Hope was able to do in the field of research he shifted his plans a bit, much to his father's dismay. You see his father was a German immigrant, having immigrated when he was only a child himself. So when the truth came out about what scientists in Germany were doing to people during the war Tim shrunk away from even the suggestion that he was German, let alone his half-German son becoming a researcher. Hope managed to convince Tim to let Earl pursue his career by reminding him of HER research.

Earl is curious, calm, and brutally honest. He works at the same hospital Hope did before she passed away, and in between shifts he serves as a medic for the family. He is married but has no kids of his own thanks to his and his wife's busy schedules. Instead he spoils his brother's and cousin Manny's kids like mad. The man rarely sleeps and if he does it's usually by accident, he can be seen 24/7 with a mug of coffee in hand.
