Tao has always been facinated and obsessed with birds and knows a lot about them too. It got him to a point that he even acts like a bird at times, some rumor it may be because he never got to know anyone from his own species as no one has ever heard of cyndaquils before on Kisento Island. Tao used to be insecure until he met his new best friend Moira the glameow and upon growing up he stopped pretending to be a bird for the most part. As Tao got older he got way more stubborn.

History
Tao lived in an orphanage for a while, it is unknown where he originally came from since it seems like he's the only cyndaquil on Kisento Island.
On going
When he was nine, Tao discovered a glameow in a river who he had saved. Her name is Moira and he got close with her. Together they formed an exploration team at Javio's Guild.
Fun facts
- Tao originated from a playthrough in Soul Silver in 2010. His name used to be Taoflame.
- Taoflame was renamed to Tao to make his name looks nicer and to not be confuse with talonflame.
- In the first draft of the story, Tao and Dara used to be a couple. This is no longer the case.
- Tao almost got super powers in an older draft but it was short lived as Lydia prefered him to be a regular quilava as he didn't need special powers to be interesting.
- The script only mentions cyndaquil Tao opening eyes in page 36. After the story got visulized into a comic, he has done that multiple times.
- Tao has never met someone of his own species and had no idea what he'd look like after evolving.
- Tao has megalophobia, he fears pokémons that are much bigger than him. This fear got reduced a bit after he evolved.
- Tao is more resistant to water than most fire types but his fire moves deal less damage.
- Quilava Tao hates hats.
- Tao's feather collection as of chapter 1 contains a feather of talonflame, ocirocio (baile + sensu), staravia, togekiss, swanna, pidove, wingull and pidgeotto.
