I would love to adopt this OC! I'd name him Tevaughn (Tay as a nickname) and he'd be apart of my (tentatively named) Down The Rabbit Hole story, a survival / cosmic horror story about a teen wilderness camp that becomes separated from their adult chaperones and trapped in a complex cave system after a cave-in, leading them to have to travel deeper into the caves to find a way out. Tevaughn would be one of the shyer campers, but also have the most outdoors/camping experience, though his lack of confidence often leads to him not speaking up even when he knows the answer to a question. He would have to step up after the cave-in as one of the only campers with experience and take a level in confidence so he could help himself and the group stay alive long enough to find a way out. He'd be the middle child of five siblings and very used to being talked over/not listened to, so it'd be a little jarring at first to have the other kids look to him for guidance...But Tevaughn won't let his new friends down.
