「Autumn Effect」

Autumn Effect (オータム エフェクト Ōtamu Efekuto) is the Stand of James Impala.

Autumn Effect is an athletic semi-humanoid Stand exhibiting several plant-like features. Its head resembles a fully bloomed titan arum, while its chestpiece resembles the bloom of a rafflesia arnoldii. It has vines covering various parts of its body, including its ribs, ears, and inner cheeks. It wears several petal-like armor plates on its body. These plates are generally round, save for the flat heart shaped pieces on its belt and forearms. Its eyes and fingers are contrastingly robotic in nature.

Autumn Effect's most notable feature is that it possesses two torsos, each with its own set of arms and pectoral muscles. It has a hole in the center of its chests that leads into its body, which serves no purpose outside of combat.

Its most common color scheme consists of different shades of green and light maroon.

Autumn Effect has an independent personality from its user, Impala. Unlike most sentient Stands however, it is completely non-verbal, communicating with Impala entirely through gestures and body language. Although the Stand has a human-like face, it does not typically emote outside of its default expression, save for specific instances where it experiences extreme emotion.

Autumn Effect has a tendency to work outside of its user's direction, regularly mainifesting at random points to check its surroundings or perform small tasks. It has a curious nature, and shows a particular interest in rummaging through things.

Despite acting independently of Impala, Autumn Effect is entirely loyal to him and will actively protect him from anything it perceives as a "threat". It becomes noticably agitated and overly possessive if it feels that its user is in danger, though its reasoning isn't always clear.

Autumn Effect possesses moderate physical strength, but tends to rely more heavily on its other abilities, using to hand-to-hand meelee only as a last resort.

Explosive Spore Dispersal

When this ability is triggered, a cloud of spores is forceably expelled from the hole in the center of Autumn Effect's chests. If inhaled, the spores will latch onto a person's lungs, restricting their breathing. The spores multiply rapidly as the victim struggles to catch their breath, stimulated by the spastic movement of the lungs. Inversely, if the affected person is able to level their breathing, the spores will begin to detatch and exit the body.

Necrosis

If one of Autumn Effect's spores comes in contact with an open flesh wound, the cells in the area will begin to die, inducing rapid decay of the victim's flesh. The speed at which this decay spreads varies based on the size of the initial wound, i.e. a large gash will spread much faster than a small cut.

• I almost named it Wasteland, but I eventually settled on Autumn Effect.
• Its first ability was inspired by of one of the lines in its namesake song.
