Profile

Gorp was a mage who made a pact with a demon in a time of need. The demon fooled him into letting him possess Gorp and used his magic to sacrifice the souls of everyone Gorp ever knew. The demon wreaked havoc across the land unseen in Gorp's shell whilst Gorp fought for control. Very recently Gorp finally broke free of the demon's control after a battle of will of epic proportions. Now he hunts the demon down, determined to fully sever the link between them both so he can never control him again. He will avenge those he has lost.

Gorp is still tied to the demon, and though the connection is loose, he can still call upon the demon's reservoir of arcanic ability to use for spells. He fears that the more he uses this magic, the closer he comes to slipping under the demon's influence again. Only time will tell.

Gorp is always tired. He often forgets to eat, drink, and even breathe. He thinks aloud almost all the time after being alone by himself in his mind for so long.

Where was Gorp born?:

Gorp was born in a small village of gnomes. Probably around 100 gnomes live there with just enough to support everyone.

Who were Gorp's parents?:

Gorp was born to two adventurer parents who spent their early years exploring the Forgotten Realms before settling down in the hamlet to start a family. Gorp is their only child. The mother had some limited arcanic power and Gorp an aptitude for magic.

What was Gorp doing before his adventurer life?

Gorp spent a lot of time multitasking and helping in different spots around the hamlet. He didn’t often stick to just one job, though was good at craftsgnomeship.

Why did he leave?:

The hamlet was raided by bandits one winter, leaving them with not enough food for everyone to live. Gorp, having the adventurous spirit of his parents, decided to head off after the bandits to reclaim the food. He knew he would not be strong enough to fight them alone but very little of the hamlet was prepared for a fight. The Fiend came to him in a dream, empathetic of his plight and offered that if he would go to some specific location in the nearby mountains and sacrifice some of his blood to him, he would “help his mortal body reach a higher potential” to help him fight the bandits. He left without a word to the mountains, seeing this as the only option to save his hamlet. He performed the ritual and remembered nothing more after that before waking back up on the mountains. He came down the mountain to find his entire town burned, and his reflection showing his eyes blood red. The demon had possessed him and sacrificed his hamlet to feed it. Gorp attempted to kill himself to stop the demon but it regained it’s hold over him, and for the next twenty years Gorp struggled in his mind to break free of the demon’s hold as he travelled the area, destroying small towns and hamlets and sacrificing those within. His form changes dramatically when fully possessed by the demon, so no-one would recognize Gorp in gnome form if they were searching for the demon unless they knew his eyes. Only a year ago Gorp was attacked by a sage while in a demonic rampage and was knocked out. When he awoke, he was himself again, and the sage nursed him back to health. Gorp owes everything to this sage. He decided to hunt down the true form of the demon who possessed him to destroy it and prevent others from falling to his fate.

What did he leave behind?:

The rubble of his hamlet. Gorp is not sure if there are still survivors from his hamlet but is always on the lookout for a familiar face. There is no way to be sure who survived his first attack but the hamlet is burned. He more recently left the sage who saved him to go out on the hunt.

What does he want?:

More than anything, Gorp wants to kill the demon that ruined his life. Past that? Gorp has nothing to go back to and doesn’t know what he really wants.
