Ryu was tossed out on the streets when his mom's new bf friend bascially told her he's gotta go. That he woudln't be with her when she's got a kid. Ryu was 14 at the time. He drifted from ally to ally, until he ended up in the ally of Tsu's father's family resturant. At the time Tsu's father would be around 18.
Tsu's grandfather ended up taking Ryu in and together the two boys helped out around the resturant. Tsu-Dad ended up meeting Tsu-mom and they got married, Ryu was the best man, and unfortunatly a year after Tsu was born, the couple went on a vacation and they were killed in an accident, so Ryu made it his mission to help with the upkeep of the resturant and raise Tsu in a way that would make both of his late- family proud.
