Design Details

• As a student (until age 16), he often wore hexagon shaped glasses (see here), but for reading mostly.
• At the laboratory, he got his ID "82-PZ-375" tattooed on his chest (see here). There is no way to remove it.
• Only wearing simple rectangle formed glasses. His eyesight worsened a lot and so he is now dependent on glasses to see clearly in general.
• He never puts off his black gloves. He can't tell why, but he simply can't bring himself to do so.
• His skin became paler than it was when he was still a student. It's a side effect of the many medications he got in the laboratory. Now, he doesn't really get a tan anymore.

While their appearance is similar and some behaviour as well (as they're sort of based of each other), they're completely different characters and should not be compared. Drawings of this Matthew are highly preferred as he is part of a personal project.

Backstory

Sen 2541 | Age: 16 | From a student to a lab rat

Matthew was an ordinary student with a great interest in computer science. He started teaching himself how to code rather early thanks to which his skills were already far further progressed in comparison to most of his classmates when he was only 16. This caught the interest of his teacher, Maria , who promptly invited him for a aptitude test to join a secret project sponsored by Xitan's government itself. While being completely flustered by that offered, he agreed - not knowing what kind of project it would actually be. He tried his hardest to complete the tasks, it was worth a try after all, and (to his own surprise) eventualy got accepted, he would only need to give a final agreement. At first, Matthew wasn't sure about it, as, according to Maria, he'd need to move into a new student dorm and would have less contact to his family for several time intervals. But when his family and even his friends motivated him to take this chance, he agreed. And so, only some days later, Maria appeared with a limousine and took him with her. Once he entered the car, he noticed another person being in there, Sien , who, as soon as the door was closed and instantly locked, took out a syringe and injected Matthew some liquid. And only a few seconds later, his consciousness fainted...

He woke up in a dark and cold room, with unfamiliar clothes on and being completely alone. It was the beginning of a nightmare. He indeed took part in a secret project of the government - as a soon to be simply obeying worker. And so Maria and Sien took care of slowly breaking his will in one of Xitan's laboratories.

As he was being examined, the scientist noticed a new memory related mutation within his genetical code. It seemed to remove the effect of an already known defect which caused the long time memory to weaken rather drastically - so he carried a definitely interesting trait. It made them wonder how far this mutation would run within his bloodline, and so the experiments were expanded to his family as well. They, however, were only exposed to certain chemicals, which were based on earlier experiments and usually triggered a faster deconstruction of memories, by them being spread into the family's environment, while Matthew got them directly injected together with other substances they tested. As expected, it had no effect on Matthew's memories. And so, Maria escorted him to visit his parents - something, that seemed like a miracle, as he had almost given up hope on seeing them again. Not knowing the actual reason for the sudden opportunity, his last pieces of hopes gathered...... and were brutally shattered when no one of his family recognized him anymore. After his return to the laboratory, it didn't take long until Matthew finally gave up completely.

Sen 2550 | Age: 25 | Freedom

Some time later, he was supposed to be transfered to his future workplace together with other mentally broken "co-workers". They were all seated and chained into a van and then driven to their destination... Yet they never arrived there. Two members of -VERILIA-, Andrew and  Melvyn , stopped and took over the van, killing the driver and then examining the transported "goods". The state the people were in shocked the two resistance members, and they almost gave up on all of them, until Andrew noticed a little, little sign of life in Matthew, as he had followed the other's movements with his eyes. He quickly freed the blond male and got him out of the van before it self-destructed itself.

Unfortunately, all the information Matthew remembered was that his ID was 82-PZ-375, and nothing else. Not his prior life, and not even what happened to him in the laboratories. Even talking was hard for him, as it seemed like he had forgotten most words. Melvyn and Andrew tried their best to somehow help him, but... it didn't seem to have any effect. Eventually Andrew came up with the idea to take Matthew to the closest cities to maybe trigger some memories and bring them back together with "some life". Lucas , one of -VERILIA-'s leaders, agreed to that plan, while the other two, Eetu and Ellinja , didn't really care. And so Andrew took Matthew (and Melvyn, who was simply assigned to join them as usually) to different places, always being cautious to not get into trouble with the organization's patrols. Sadly, no matter where they went, Matthew was never able to recall anything. It seemed hopeless....

Until suddenly, he yelled out "Erika...!" as the trio passed a red-haired girl. Erika needed some moments, but eventually recognized Matthew, an old classmate who she had lost contact with a decade ago. Their reunion was interrupted as a patrol came by and the trio fled... Erika joining them, before losing Matthew again.

With her help, Matthew was slowly able to recall some parts of his previous life, such as his family, friends and school life, yet everything after him agreeing to accept the offer by Xitan's government stayed a mystery. While it still bothered him to have such a big memory gap, he wasn't sure either if he actually wanted to know what happened. After all, the state he had been in must had some terrible origin...

Eventually, he stopped caring about the missing years, as he was happy with how everything was. Some months after his reunion with Erika, the two became a happy couple.

Sen 2559 | Age: 33 | Unexpected Reunion

(Someday, Eetu, Andrew, Melvyn and Matthew go on a mission to explore the surrounding forests more. They all seperate in order to get it done as quickly as possible. Yet as Matthhew reaches a clearing, he meets an old, familiar person... Ken. Once forgotten memories of the time and torture within the laboratories return, and so do those of the weird relationship with Ken, who gladly forces him to a kiss. (tbe) )

Ken [ #Complicated ]

At first, Ken is simply a trigger for terrible memories. Yet with those, also memories of trust and care come back, so he can neither dislike nor really distrust him. After quite some misunderstandings due to Ken not being used to "normal human interaction" (after all, he's an experiment who was kept in a laboratory for a long time), eventually Matthew sort of decides to teach him how to fit in better. While Ken seems to like him the whole time over, Matthew has more problems with understanding what he himself feels. Over time, he gets weaker for Ken, yet can't really accept it as after all he still loves Erika. Only when Erika told him that it's okay and that he doesn't need to feel bad for liking both of them (and also that she and Ken get along nicely), he finally accepts it himself. He's still rather shy when it comes to being affectionate with Ken but doesn't mind when the other takes control, as he respects Matthew's wish to stop if it gets too much.
