A strong, flexible material encases its actual body which is exposed only as a "tail" and (sometimes) a "tongue". A pupsid only opens its head casing if it feels safe. Its puppy-like behavior helps it to approach humans to infect. Human hosts will be modified by the pupsid to produce new pupsids from their flesh.
