Personality: quiet, loner (somewhat), distant, can be a little cold towards others, caring deep down. cares a lot for Achlys and Cyril. since having lily back, he has grown more loving and kind towards others.

Before the dream: custos was a loner of a kitsune, wandering about and looking to help other wanderers. he had an interesting ability to see the other side, also known as the spirit world, and became a sort of guide to lost spirits, trying to find a way for them to come back home. the spirits led him on to follow the exiled, telling him that he could gain more power, and be able to help more spirits.

During the Dream: In "The Dream", custos remembered a festival where humans placed small floating lanterns on the water, and let them drift off. custos sometimes used this occasion to help spirits find their way home to their loved ones on the other side

After the Dream: custos awoke to find that his grey pelt had darkened to reflect the sky at night. he looked about, and felt the energy of life all about him. from that moment on, custos made a promise to himself. he would find a way to flit back to the place he had been and help as many spirits as he could. to do that, he had to find a way to get stronger.

RELATIONSHIPS:

lily- mates: custos met lily a long time ago, on the way to the dream with the exiled. he unfortunately lost her when she was killed by hunters, but has since reunited with her. custos and lily have become official mates and have a child together, named serena. for custos, lily is his light, his spirit guide, his life. he loves her and that's all that matters to him.

Serena- Daughter: custos loves his little serena lots and lots. he loves taking her to see the spirits at the reaper homeland, and telling her stories about the human festivals he's seen. custos thanks the stars every day for the universe giving him serena and lily.

Achlys- adopted daughter. achlys has always been one that custos worries for. especially when she had that mask, and did... that. he loves her almost as much as lily, and just as much as serena. he cares for and protects her, and is especially proud of her emotional progression.

cyril- adopted son/apprentice: cyril came up to custos and asked him to help him talk with spirits. ever since then, cyril has been training under custos to learn all about spirits, and custos has come to appreciate cyril as a kitsunegami. custos adopted cyril, along with achlys, into his family, and he enjoys their presence, especially when he needs cheering up.

Dorito- annoyed by (formally)/ somewhat friends: dorito used to annoy the living daylights out of custos. he really did not enjoy the potato kitsunegami's pranks. more recently, however, custos has come to respect dorito, especially hearing about his love for root, and his willingness to give a part of his past up to protect her. they are now more neutral, starting to become friends somewhat.

Reapers- Allies/in debted to: the reapers are custos' closest allies, and help him to find lost souls. custos himself is an honorary reaper, and shows his allegiance with this species with pride. he's also extremely thankful to the reapers for bringing lily back to life, and he feels like he can never thank them enough. he will often slip off to the reaper homeland's base to help them, or to gift them with stories and material objects, such as weapons to defend themselves from spirits with.

Magic:

Custos' magic allows him to summon a little spirit friend who follows him and keeps him company. the little guide takes the skull that custos wears as a vessel for it to stay in this world. the spirit's name is unknown at this point...

as of the sheepus event, custos' magic has changed slightly. now he is able to summon reapers to his side, as well as spirits. the reapers act the same as spirits. the spirit companion he once had is now gone...

*INHERENT MAGIC- ILLUSION: he can create illusions, which allow him to create an illusory form for himself. he takes on the form of a kitsune style reaper, and uses this as mainly a scare/defense tactic*

Pet:

loki the lichy is the pet of custos, and loves to talk about himself. he is also a trickster, and enjoys scaring other kitsus when he can. he likes to collect feathers to put into his hat, and has a fascination with gemstones, especially rubies, sapphires, diamonds, jaspers, lapis lazulis, rose quartz, pearls, peridots and amethysts. loki refers to custos as "the boss" or "boss spirit", and enjoys affectionately ruffling custos' head fur.

Aura:

custos' aura is a curious glow that emanates from his body and lantern. it helps to guide spirits to custos. he can then send his companion to help them home. custos is also able to use his aura to "read the room" or in other words, sense when something is wrong. his aura is strongest at night, and when his eyes glow along with his aura, kitsunegamis feel a chill of fear strike their souls, and they shy away from him. custos is most in touch with the other side in this state

Sanctuary:

custos' sanctuary is a valley, often named the valley of rememberance. spirits come here to be guided to the next life, and some lucky few have their bodies buried on memorial hill. kitsunes of the Exiled who have lost their lives are also buried here. a spirit called the Watcher gifts spirits lanterns that they can ride on to the afterlife, or to memorial hill, where custos will help them. writing a name on a piece of paper and tying it to the cherry blossom tree will cause the spirit of the one whose name has been written to become stuck in this world. custos can be summoned by finding a tree near his sanctuary, and tying a peice of paper with the person's name on it to the tree. you'll know when you arrive at custos' sanctuary, since it is almost always night there, and lanterns will always glow. there are also a whole load of cherry blossoms, stuck in permanent bloom.

General facts:

custos loves his meat. he will eat any kind of meat, be it red or white, land based or seafood. he will also eat some vegetables, though he is not as keen.

he has a fatherly relationship with achlys and cyril, and has since opened up to them both. he especially looks out for achlys, and will protect her as much as he can.

he secretly wishes he could help kitsunegamis who are still in grieving, or have lost family members, such as orin and rin.

he's a fan of festivals, especially spirit based ones. he is more likely to help more humans over if they celebrate spirit based festivals.

custos is an honorary reaper, and can channel their magic, using his own to change his appearence. this is an illusion, and does not actually change his physical form.

his nickname is "the kami of death" or as dorito likes to call him "mr gloomy kami"

Human form:

in human form, custos is a silent watcher, and generally takes on the same mannerisms and behaviours as the reapers that follow him. he usually takes this form when in the human world, to reduce the fear and panic his natural form would most likely cause.
