Despite his serious exterior, Tiel is a friendly, easy-going fellow. Easily excited about meeting new people, Tiel is simply a friend you haven't met yet, with a good, hearty appreciation for a good battle and adventure. He's rarely seen inside the Zora Kingdom, instead travelling beyond it's waters to interact with villages, known for helping to assist in trades from the Gerudo, Goron and Hylians - although he has a preference for the Rito Lands. He spends farther and farther time away from his homeland, and his friend and family - preferring the company of new ones, like Gerudo explorer Ryma.

He was once a loyal soldier, underneath Prince Sidon - a prodigy in his own right thanks to the merciless teachings of his now deceased father. He was proudly serving for the Zora until he was caught in a Yiga Clan ambush and kept captive and then tortured, with his forearm fins being ripped from his body and kept as trophies. When he was rescued and returned, he found that without these fins, it detrimentally changed how he could swim - unable to climb the magnificent waterfalls of his homeland, making it harder to travel to places, and make others completely inaccessible. Feeling isolated, Tiel retired and took up a different mantle - now travelling and exploring alongside Ryma - still missing his home.

Fun Fact: Tiel shows his affection by headbutting people - this has caused concussions. He is unable to stop, and it's just his go to way of greeting people.
