But the angels, afraid of what his powers could incite, forbade his all-seeing gaze to set upon the heavens. Thus, he was blind to his own home realm. An archiver of knowledge, this one blind spot tempted him greatly.

Vulnerable to the temptation, the angel gave in and finally opened his eyes to heaven, committing the ultimate rebellion. In punishment, the angels burned and blinded his eyes, destroyed his wings, then cast his mangled body into hell, where deformities grew in place of opulence. But as a cruel twist of irony, his heaven-bound eyes were left untouched, immune to their holy flames.

Now, blinded to demons and mortals, heaven is all the fallen angel can see.
