Profile
Sheep is a small, thin-furred, grey merle Border collie/Shiloh shepherd mix with gentle blue eyes and a long snout. She has a crushed paw and an obvious limp.
Even for a healer, Sheep is the most gentle dog you'll ever meet. Caring, soft-spoken, and subtle, she's a talented doctor and herbalist, even if she gets in her own head a lot and has low self-esteem.
Sheep, originally named Cardigan, was born with her brother Windy in the Hellfire Gang to their mother, Neptune. Neptune, being a teacher in the Gang, had very high standards for her pups that were essentially unachievable. After only a month of training, she deemed that Cardigan and Windy were too weak to be fighters and sent them off to live on a farm out east.
Windy and Cardigan did enjoy the first few seasons at the cow farm- although they were confused and homesick, they at least had each other and a roof over their heads. When she was a few years old, Cardigan slipped up and had her paw stepped on by a cow; several bones were broken and she suddenly found herself unable to work. She waited a few days in agony, hoping the owner might get her some medical attention, but instead he stopped feeding her, and Cardigan knew she was useless without her mobility. Knowing she couldn't stay, she bid a tearful goodbye to Windy and left, wandering out into the Town as a stray.
Cardigan was out scavenging in a field when she met Glacier, an old white Anatolian shepherd. He offered to bring her back to the Lake Pack, where he was the healer, and she accepted the offer. Glacier saw great promise in her, and so made her his apprentice. She took the name Sheep after her gentle, but shy nature. Unfortunately, after only a year of training, Glacier passed from old age and Sheep was forced to take his place.
Sheep never felt qualified nor deserving for the role of healer, but there was nobody else to take her place. She was at the Alpha's bedside when he passed and saw Apple take his place- at least she felt a little better having a younger dog as the leader.
Things were smooth for Sheep until the Pack recieved some unexpected visitors during a storm: Despin and Lapetus, her young half-siblings from the Gangs. She was very uncomfortable around them at first, considering her history with Neptune, but would eventually warm up to them. Sure enough, her mother arrived after the storm to collect her runaway pups, sporting a horribly infected broken leg no less. Although Sheep was very doubtful of her abilities, she and Neptune both knew what needed to be done- a full amputation of the limb. Using a heavy rock and her own teeth, Sheep completed the most difficult surgery of her career. Neptune departed shortly after, and the two were on better terms. Despin decided to stay behind, and was renamed Half Moon when he began training.
The Ice Flu broke out that winter, a terrible virus which attacked the lungs mercilessly. Sheep had never seen anything like it before, and with her packmates dropping like flies, she was desperate for a cure. She couldn't help but feel guilt for every death, and the stress was weighing on her hard. Stream, a one-eyed hunter, began helping her out, as well as a leashed dog named Girlie. With her assistants and some help from the Spirit-Dogs, she was able to discover and distribute a cure before the Pack went completely extinct.
Although Girlie had to leave, Stream and Sheep remained quite close once things calmed down. She knew that they were closer than friends, having an immediate connection being the only two disabled members of the Pack, but she wasn't sure that Stream felt the same. Finally, she decided enough was enough and confessed to Stream during a naming ceremony, which she reciprocated. The two are now mates, officially.
