About Val'Aria

Val'Aria is a generally kind and enthusiastic half High Entia who enjoys history enough to put her life on the line to make new discoveries. That being said, she is not at all much of a fighter. In fact, any time she is met with a potential fight, her main tactic is to flee as fast and as far as possible, using either to increase her defense. She does have a grumpy side. If you interupt her studies without good reason, she will have your head. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Her dedication to her studies also make for many nights of no sleep which doesn't help this matter. Val's main interest is ancient High Entia text. Since it has never been able to be translated before, she wants nothing more than to be the first to be able to decipher it.

Val is a High Entia, a race that can best be described as technologically advanced elves with wings on their heads. Well, more clearly she is a half high entia. Half high entia and half homs (homs are basically humans). Her mother was a beautiful full blooded high entia, her father a full blooded homs. When Val was young she lost her mother to a monster that was loose around the light house in Eryth Sea (the area outside of Alcamoth, where she grew up). Her father was left to try to figure out how the heck to take care of not only a female child, but a female of a different species, which I should add, age very differently than homs. In facts, you will notice her age in is 104, which equates to 21 in homs years. That'd mean by the time she was the homs equivalent of 5 she'd have been about 25. That being said, because of this difference in aging, Val far out lives her father. He passes by the time she is 25 (5 homs) and is taken in by a kind half entia family where she lives until she is old enough to live on her own under work of the ministries. However, since High Entia are as a people are a bit against the idea of a mixed race, she gets looked down on quite a bit by many in Alcamoth, and especially the ministries. Mostly in a kind of passive manner, though there is no doubt it would hinder her much less if it were not known she were half. Her profession is historian/researcher as in she will go out and physically do research on historical matters that have yet to be deciphered. Things like ancient text or old statues that no one has figured out the importance of yet. She can almost always be found with at least one book in her hands, or many scattered around her, and many have called her a bookworm, which she will never deny, rather, she is forced to question why others aren't as interested in the history of their people as she is. Her primary directive is to decipher the ancient text on the ancient High Entia statue on Prison Island, though this directive was thrown slightly off course when the Ministry of Research (one of the governmental functions of her homeland) decided that she would accompany a talented but flighty researcher by the name of Avith. Avith, a full blooded High Entia, is none too pleased, but Val manages to get him to warm up to her. I imagine he still makes passive jokes about her heritage from time to time. Old habits die hard after all. The two are probably the wimpiest travel duo ever however. Avith focusing mostly on evasiveness and Val focusing mainly on support, their best fighting tactic is for Val to throw up a speed and defense boost and for them to get the heck outta there. Unfortunately at a certain point in time Val'Aria is faced with Avith's death. With that her directive shifts yet again. Alcamoth becomes an unsafe place to be, and Eryth Sea is not much better. An allied force is created to help end the cause of the current downfall of Alcamoth, but Val wasn't much of a fighter and she'd have been no use. Rather, she shifts her focus to supporting the survivors escape from Alcamoth, and spends a lot of time in hiding with them in a refugee camp on Bionis Leg, occasionally heading back up to Satorl Marsh to check on those who sought shelter under the Sororal statues. Of course, that gave her a chance to continue her studies anyway. However, this would prove to be a bit pointless after the reconstruction, though it did allow her to live out the remainder of her life, chronicling the events of a young boy by the name of Shulk and his companions of varied race who would end up responsible for the peace and reconstruction.

Trivia

  • The math of this is high entia age divided by 4.9 give homs age.
  • Half Entia are easily distinguishable by the length of their headwings. Val's are stunted and her bloodline is clearly "impure".
  • It is possible for her to fly for a short time with her headwings, but as they are stunted it is uncomfortable and exhausting.
  • Val would never admit to it, but she had a bit of a crush on Avith before his passing. She never told him, content with their friendship and playful love-hate relationship.
  • Val loves braiding and would often fix Avith's braid for him. He eventually grew to enjoy this.
  • Val spent a lot of time on Prison Island before events that kept her from re-entering. She was granted special access from the ministries as long as a full blood guard accompanied her. The statues by the entrance were her main focus and she never actually stepped foot inside the large prison.
  • High Entia do not eat meat.
  • Val has an absolutely MASSIVE collection of books she will not let anyone touch without her approval.
