In the past, Morwenna, formerly known as Shally Rosewell, attended the magic school near Diascia. Eowyn Hardwyn, a teacher at the school, killed Shally to cure her own illness.

However, Eowyn's brother developed affection for Shally, leading Finnegan Hardwyn to experiment on her in order to create a "perfect being" for himself and bring her back to life.
