Bishop Katherine

Preface

Katherine and the Oryctolagus Nicodox are part of Love Bites, a story by my friend radarsaturn. The cult was originally conceptualized by him and I am helping him flesh it out by running the cult's twitter. Everything that is written about the Oryctolagus and Katherine has been written in tandem with him. 

Biography

Not much is known about Katherine. She does not enjoy talking about her past, and therefore keeps much of it to herself. 

She first entered the Oryctolagus Nicodox in 2015, she was then 20 years old and quite unsure of herself. The one thing that she knew was that she finally felt like someone cared about her. The members didn't care where she came from, they didn't care if they had nothing to gain from her, to them she was their sister. She devoted herself to the cause, living in the manor full time. She eventually climbed up the ranks enough to be close to the then-current bishop, acting as sort of an assistant. Katherine enjoyed the work, she was fed, clothed, housed and most of all, loved. 

It all changed when Devil made contact with the Oryctolagus in January of 2020. He had intruded upon one of their sacred rituals by the fire, even going so far as to photograph them and post it online. The then bishop immediately declared he had to be some sort of spy and he was apprehended. Devil was tied to a chair and beaten up by a handful of cult members to try and extort information, but it was clear that approach was ineffective. The members eventually settled on loosening his metaphorical leash just a bit to see if they could try and convert him to their cause, but in doing so he went on a rampage to try and get his phone back from them and eventually escaped in the wake of the carnage later that same month. 

As a result, fifteen members of the Oryctolagus lay dead, some in pieces, including their bishop at the time. This could only mean one thing, that their god had finally returned to them in the flesh. The Oryctolagus worship a violent god of death an destruction. A god who rips the souls from the living and brings them with him as notes in his chaotic song of death. An endless loop that resembles that of the circle of life. They have been waiting for almost eighty years for him since the original bishop spoke of him. Now that He had returned to them, they are dedicated to guiding Him back to them. They took to following him, trying to understand more of their god.

Since the bishop was now part of the song, they needed to chose a new leader. As per tradition, anointing of a new bishop was the responsibility of their leporid oracle, a rabbit named Cookie. Bishops are selected on their ability to hear the predictions of the oracle in their minds, and as a result, Katherine was chosen. In the days leading up to her coronation, she opened a twitter account for the Oryctolagus, hoping to connect with Devil on a new level. So far it doesn't seem to be working, but she's having fun recruiting new members at least.

Update: February 6th, 2020. 

Katherine was fooled by a malicious spirit into thinking she had upset her god. This spirit took to twitter, mocking her viciously for her panic. She tried to talk with it, but to no avail. The Oracle Cookie died due to mysterious circumstances. He was buried hours after his death. Katherine took a break from updating her twitter to mourn and search for the new Oracle.

Update: February 18th, 2020

After a brief sabbatical from twitter, Katherine returned with a new mask and the new Oracle. 

Update: February 20th, 2020

The appearance of the new Oracle had been unveiled. A young orange and white female rabbit. Katherine asked Devil to name her, he chose the name Abigail.

Update: February 23rd, 2020

Katherine begins noticing a strange shadow haunting the grounds of the manor.

Update: March 1st, 2020

The leader of the Nicodox's sister organization, the Oryctolagus Mortifer, was released from prison. His name is Frank Orcus. This is also when Katherine began correspondence with Fox

Katherine revealed her true appearance.
