Industrial orphan: Dudley never knew his parents. His earliest memories were of drudgery in the mines and workhouses of his industrial world. Because of this, he never received a proper education.
Escaped convict: Dudley denies involvement in the crimes that brought about his incarceration in a brutal penal colony. He escaped by tunneling beneath the perimeter using modified cutlery.
