Liara is deeply disciplined. Her free spirit is more methodical now that she's aged & willingly gone through the rigors of the military. Life is different for sure now. Her psychic abilities are more easily regulated & on call instead of running her life. Not to mention, she has more emotional self-control now. She can feel an emotion, acknowledge it, & not let it ruin her whole day. She's glad she is no longer in the military, but she's also grateful for certain things that were enhanced in her life from now on from undergoing the training. Liara knows she isn't perfect, since she relates better to those that are long dead than she does the living, but she loves those that have made it to her inner circle fiercely. With them, she has no filter & tells them how it is. This couldn't be changed no matter what training she went through, but she wouldn't have it any other way. Honesty is the best policy to her, especially after all her studies of past mistakes across time.
