【Raichu (Alolan)】
Starter Pokemon
Raichu was given to Callum as a Pichu by his mother who was unable to find a use for her due to her naturally low IVs, claimed to be unfit for either battle or research. Pichu, soon turned to Pikachu, was easily the star of all of Callum's starting contests, as well as his biggest supporter in a time where he had none. For a long time Callum fretted over why his Pikachu seemed to have no interest in evolving into a Raichu, though it happened naturally in the midst of a contest taking place in Aloha when their performance had been lacking behind others. They were easily able to take home another ribbon, as well as a more shared sense of gratitude. |
【Milotic】
Second Pokemon
Milotic was caught as a Feebas on a whim when Callum discovered the Pokemon had beached itself on land. Though initially criticized for taking in the Pokemon due to it's appearance, Callum decided to utilize Feebas in many upcoming contests. The two predictably loss many to the general consensus on the Pokemon's appearance, but Callum opted not to give up on the Pokemon, claiming him to be perfectly contest-worthy. Much like Pikachu, Feebas evolved to Milotic in the midst of a particularly heated contest, easily taking home the ribbon for it's new form. Sometimes Callum misses when he was just a guppy, though he's perfectly happy with the Pokemon's new form as well. |
【Lycanroc (Dusk)】
Third Pokemon
Callum was gifted Rockruff by his sister who fretted she was unable to keep up with the Pokemon's energy, nor was she able to slot it into her own contest team after appraisal. Callum had to put contests on a heavy wait while he opted into training and getting to know Rockruff, who was as playful as any other Rockruff pup would be. Rockruff soon evolved to it's Dusk form, which many were taken to for it's brightly-colored appearance. Callum wouldn't have minded whatever form Rockruff would become, though he's happy it was ready enough to evolve when it did. Nowadays Lycanroc is a rather fierce protector when it comes to her trainer, easily substituting for any other form of personal security. |
【Lanturn】
Fourth Pokemon
Callum came into posession of Lanturn when a lone Chinchou had found itself onto the set of an up-and-coming contest themed after his own appearance. He'd quickly dove to retrieve the Pokemon from one of the many tidepools being set up, despite his complete inability to swim himself. Those setting up for the show had to reclaim both Callum and Chinchou from the water, which was quite the bonding moment for the both of them. Callum soon after decided to add Chinchou to his team, giving it a debut in the very contest it was discovered in, evolving to Lanturn during their travels. |
【Rotom (Fan)】
Fifth Pokemon
Callum had started to suspect something was wrong when much of the machinery in his prop trailer had begun to either fizzle out or turn on abruptly at random intervals without his intervention. Initially believing it to be an issue with wiring or something of the sort, he wrote it off until it began to become unbearable. Noticing the toll its assumedly harmless pranks were taking on the contest winner, Rotom made itself known to the other through the utilization of one of the many cheaply-made fans set up across the trailer. Callum couldn't help but laugh upon seeing the childish Pokemon, which tittered to him in turn. Rotom became a part of the team soon after, with the promise of many "pranks" to come. |
【Wynaut】
Sixth Pokemon
Callum always liked Wynaut, may it be their generally goofy demeanor or silly expressions. So, he splurged on purchasing one from a renowned breeder. Oh, so sue him. He's allowed to indulge sometimes. It is rather cute, after all. |
Notes
Callum is a Unovian Idol best known for his appearances in multiple contests across the globe and his familial connection. With his mother being an affluent Pokemon Professor and his younger sister competing in contests herself, their family name isn't easily skipped over. With an emphasis on the bright blue sea and an aesthetic to closely match, it's not tough to identify Callum Caston whether it be on the big screen or in the eye of the public!
- Despite the emphasis on his connection to the ocean, Callum isn't the most competent swimmer.
- His sister, Valerie, is a child star when it comes to contests and is able to keep on par with him easily, mostly utilizing baby Pokemon.
- Their mother is a Pokemon Professor, though she doesn't do much work with the public and prefers to keep to herself, even away from her own children.
- Callum is deathly afraid of rodent-like Pokemon, despite his starter being a variant of Pichu.
- Incredibly proficient in the line of contests, though not as much in battle. In truth, his Pokemon do better in battle without his guidance at all. He's a little too skittish at the idea of them being severely injured.
