Imani is a 21 year old, mixed race but self-identifies as black, female.
PHYSICALITY: Tall, thin and toned with very long straight black hair (she has it professionally straightened). 5'10. Always looks put-together and spends more time than she'll admit to on her hair and make-up to achieve the "I rolled out of bed gorgeous" look.
FAMILY: Imani was raised by her dad (Jerome) when her mom (Larah) died in childbirth along with her unborn brother when Imani was three. Jerome was heartbroken and it took him many years before he started dating again, and they were never brought home or serious at that. Imani has always been very supportive of the idea that her dad should try and find someone, but it was pretty much a disaster he finally did start dating someone serious (Sherise) when she was in high school.
Sherise and Imani never got along, and probably never will. And now that Sherise is Jerome's long term partner, Imani has been very distant from her dad much to her and his unhappiness. For the record, Sherise isn't terrible and doesn't treat her dad poorly, but the two's personalities just don't mesh. Sherise is very materialistic and "pamper me" narcissist a bit, which seems to go against everything her father taught her growing up. So Imani just doesn't get their relationship. Heck, Jerome doesn't much understand it either since Sherise is polar opposite from Larah, but her does love her and Sherise does love him.
PERSONALITY: Imani comes off as a perky, flirty freebird, but is hella ambitious and determined. Music is always playing in her ear, and it tends to be easy beats like Madi Das, Alicia Keyes, Nelly Furtado, Jack Johnson and the likes. She does try to go out clubbing with friends a couple times a month, and is part of the school's dance club (as opposed to the dance team which she doesn't have time for).
JOB: She scored an exclusive business internship at a major Record Label in LA (and commutes to be there 3 days a week) and teaches yoga at the Senior Center on Monday nights.
MAJOR: She is only a part-time student but with an insanely full schedule. Originally she planned to major in dance/instruction or maybe physical therapy with a minor in dance, but has changed gears to a 'Music Business' BA/Masters track now thanks to the internship with a focus on *****.
STYLE: She wears a lot of sexy athletic wear and form showing outfits, and loves high contrast between black and hot pink (or white or purple). Her business wear is also on the more revealing side (but not crossing any lines in the music business fashion-oriented line).
QUIRKS: Restricts her diet to unhealthy levels sometimes. Caught up in the 'your body/image is everything' mindset of the music/celebrity culture industry. Hates dogs and dislikes the idea of pets in general. Terrible sense of direction.
