Jamie

Jamie has always been scared. He has been reminded multiples times how cowardly this was from his fellow peers. He did not really have the best childhood either, which may have resulted in how he reacts to things. His father was always reprimanding him, beating him up whenever he did a small mistake. His mother was the total opposite, she cared for Jamie with all her heart. Jamie's mother made sure he was raised kindly despite the environment they had. 

Once Jamie was a bit older enough to work as an apprentice post office messenger,  Jamie's father had gone crazy and went overboard. He hurled all sorts of shrapnel and insults at the mother and son. Jamie's mother did her best to shield Jamie for her was too afraid fight back. All Jamie could do was cry and he regrets that to this day.

Callie was Jamie's childhood friend and is his best friend to this day, she would always provide support and bring joy to Jamie's life. She was there when the worst day happened to Jamie, she promised him that she would protect him from now on.

"Jamie, don't be scared, I'm here!"

Jamie did not want that, he wanted to protect Callie instead. He did not want a repeat of what has transpired. So once Callie asked Jamie to go on this aimless journey with her, Jamie accepted. After all, he also wanted to leave his terrible past behind and maybe find courage for himself along this journey.
