Profile

A cleric of the Blue Church of Maris.

Studious and reserved, he scribed for the Revered Priests for most of his life, absorbed in books and language. He was deeply fascinated by the cultures and languages of far away places, perhaps due to the uncertainness of his own origins. While Manu rarely left Church confines, many refugees and travellers would often rest, and he would listen to their tales of adventure and magnificent cities, stroking, but never acting, upon on his growing desires of freedom.

As he grew older, his gentle sincerity earned him the favor of the Reverend, and he was granted an opportunity to partake in a sacred rite, only available to the Church's Diviners. He had his first, frightful, violent vision then: where a white serpent swallowed the moon and bled dark ichor over the sea. This calamity would be heralded by a warrior in green. Manu sputtered this vision, but the Diviners could make no sense of it, and dismissed it.

One day, the moon hanging over Maris went dark. The sea, once calm, began to rise and roar.

By then, Manu had already fled the city walls, consumed with the desire to decipher his visions. And he watched his home drown from afar, a sense of peace settled over him. He finally realized the purpose of his dreams -- what they have tried to tell him since the fateful day he imbibed the moon.

His visions were a lost light guiding him in the dark. He would prevent this calamity from happening - however ambiguous it was, however long the journey would take. His body was weak, but he would press on.  The visions were muddled and grainy, but he had one certainty. The calamity would be heralded by a man dressed in green. A warrior, of stone, iron, and jade, jade green.

He was going to kill that man.
