Long story short, Kitzn crash landed. That's what happens when you try to take a shuttle back to the mothership on your own for the first time when you're too close to the jamming magnetic field of a planet no one of your species has even glanced at. Lord knows how he managed to work the emergency teleporter to not blink him 500 feet in the air or in 3 feet underground or something stupid and last minute like that.
Fortunately, he managed to blink all his body parts and a couple pieces of equipment right on top of a patch of flowers. Unfortunately, said patch of flowers was in the backyard of a house in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Even more unfortunate, the homeowner heard the noise, and boy that language barrier was a darn hassle until Kitzn got the translator working.
For now, after a lot of gesturing and garbled translator speech, Kitzn is hiding out in said homeowner's house while he figures out how to get off this planet. Not that he's in any particular hurry; he's discovered a newfound fascination with tacky Thebian fashion.
