Gaarbi is a professional rumormonger, spy, storyteller, and criminal-by-command. She works for her merchant patron Arrate gathering and spreading information in ways that benefit the business. She's chivalrous, helpful, and forgiving, taking action to protect the common folk - unless Arrate has ordered otherwise. Gaarbi is also self-sufficent and unused to fully trusting others. Despite her duplicitous nature she values honesty. Her strength is in choosing which truths to tell, not in outright lies. Gaarbi can sometimes get caught up in the fine details and miss the greater picture.

Her immigrant father, unhappy with his new home, made his living as a militia soldier. Gaarbi often clashed with him but he did support her interests and her ultimate career path. She did her patron's dirty work for a while, poaching cattle, propping up political factions, and roughing people up. However, Gaarbi decided to do her patriotic duty and enlist herself in the military. She spent eight years fighting for her country until her disease-ravaged platoon met with disaster and she returned home, the only survivor. After that Arrate set her up with an information job and she did that for a while.

She spent a while investigating some troubling rumors out west before heading to the frozen north to obtain a mysterious artifact for Arrate. While there she found an arcane shipwreck with possible connections to her patron. She joined a group of northerners surveying the frozen frontier, looking for signs of civilization, encroaching giant aggression, and untold wealth. Their journey was long and arduous, with many a close shave. Gaarbi was inspired by the wisdom and sacrifice of her new friends and chose to hide the giants' cultural heritage from Arrate instead of continue to aid her colonizing force.
